A covenant of peace(화평의 언약)

 

‘I will make a covenant of peace so that 소묘 may live in the desert and them and sleep in the forests in safety

내가 또 그들과 화평의 언약을 세우고 악한 짐승을 그 땅에서 그치게 하리니 그들이 빈들에 평안히 거하며 수플 가운데서 잘지라.

I will bless hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.

내가 그들에게 복을 내리며 내 산 사면 모든 곳도 복되게 하여 때를 따라 비를 내리되 장맛비를 내리리라.

 

The trees of the field will yield their fruit and the ground will yield its crops; the people will be secure in their land.

They will know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the hands of those who enslaved them.

그리한즉 밭에 나무가 열매를 맺으며 땅이 그 소산을 내리니 그들이 그 땅에서 평안할지라.

내가 그들의 멍엣목을 꺾고 그들로 종을 삼은자의 손에서 그들을 건져낸 후에 그들이 나를 여호와인줄 알겠고

They will no longer be plundered by the nations, nor will wild animals de-vour them. They will live in safety, and no one will make them afraid.

그들이 다시는 이방의 노략거리가 되지 아니하며 땅의 짐승의 삼킨바 되지 아니하고 평안히 거하리니 놀랠 사람이 없으리라

I will provide for them a land renowned for them a land renowned for its crops, and they will no longer be victims of famine in the land or bear the scorn of the nations.

내가 그들을 위하여 유명한 종식할 땅을 일으키리니 그들이 다시는 그 땅에서 기근으로 멸망하지 아니 할지며 다시는 열국의 수치를 받지 아니할찌라

Then they will know that I, the Lord their God, am with them and that they, the house of Israel, are my peo-ple, declares the Sovereign Lord.

그들이 나 여호와 그들의 하나님이 그들과 함께 있는 줄을 알며 그들 곧 이스라엘 족속이 내 백성인줄 알리라 나 주 여호와의 말이니라

You my, the sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are people, and I am your God, declares the Sovereign Lord.

내 양 곧 내 초장의 양 너희는 사람이요 나는 너희 하나님이라 나 주 여호와의 말이니라

하나님은 우리와 화평의 언약을 세울 것이라고 말씀하셨다.

화평을 소망하는 우리에게 이 얼마나 위로가 되고 소망을 주는 말씀인가!

하나님은 자신의 양떼를 괴롭히는 모든 악한 무리를 쫒아내시고,

자기 양떼를 쉴만한 푸른 초장으로 인도하여 거기서 평안히 거하도록 해주겠다고 약속하셨다.

그래서 이 약속은 ‘화평의 언약’이라 불렸다.
